If you’re socially-conscious, you save 10%

We discount our work by 10% for any company or organization whose project qualifies as socially-conscious and/or socially-responsible. These rates are as follows.

User experience design: $1,160 / day

Here are some examples of qualifying projects.

  • Our client Squidoo.com offers a commercial web site funded by ad revenue, but the community members who create content on the site have the option to donate their earnings to various charities. As a result, Squidoo raises a boatload of cash for organizations who desperately need it.
  • Our client GoodGuide.com provides detailed information on the eco-friendliness of a wide range of household products, breaking this information down into a simple ratings system so that eco-conscious shoppers can quickly determine whether to buy or walk away. TaoIt will also be building an iPhone application to enable searches right when they’re most important—while standing in the store.
  • DoTheRightThing.com (DTRT) raises awareness about the social-responsibility of corporations and facilitates conversation between corporate representatives and the public. When a company goes negative (say, cuts the budget for employee benefits), a DTRT member can post a story about it, and company representatives can respond. When a company goes positive (say, puts forth initiatives to decrease its carbon footprint), a member can talk about that, too.

If not, 10% goes to the greater good

Because not every company can focus on world-improving projects, we now devote 10% of our income from every for-profit, commercial-only project to a worthy cause, such as a charity, a foundation, a socially-conscious project of our own (such as an awareness campaign), or any number of things. If we do $10,000 worth of work for you on your commercial project, $1,000 of it is going towards the greater good.
